November 2019
It’s been 8 years since I first visited the remote kingdom of Bhutan in April 2011. On my 1st visit tourists were confined to the western part of Bhutan. But in 2019 Bhutan had opened up the central and eastern regions of Bhutan. Paro is a small historic town in western Bhutan which once was the hub for trade with Tibet. A Dzong serves as a center for administrative and monastic life. In centuries past the dzong served as the fortress to protect the valley from invaders.
