The Columbian Exchange Brought Globalization and Disease

This is a fascinating account of what Colombus brought to the New World, and what the New World gave back to the Old World. The conquerers who wrote the history like to emphasize that they brought civilization to the poor illiterates. They forget to mention they brought smallpox which decimated the Indian tribes because they had no resistance to that new disease.

It remains important to review the historical sources to find out the real problems of globalization and how new diseases wipe out populations.
